Picasa! Oh, what it can do!
As I was preparing for the the digital camera/Picasa workshop this weekend, I was amazed to find out all the things that Google's free picture/video management program will do! The best place to start is by taking a look at the user guide. I also found another good manual on the Manhattan College website.
Picasa is piece of software that you can use to upload all of your digital pictures and video from your digital camera. It stores everything from your camera into albums that you create. You can use it in place of the software that came with your camera.
A few of the cool features that Picasa has to offer are:
- Picture editing - there are a lot of different ways you can edit your pictures
- Slideshow - you can select a group of picture or an album that you have created and show them as a slideshow to your class or parents at the touch of a button
- Geotags - you can select a picture or group of pictures and tag it so that it becomes on of your own "places" in Google Earth
- Movies - you can select a group of pictures and create a movie with those pictures that can be saved, e-mailed, or even posted on a web page
- Add to Screensaver - you can select a group of pictures and make those your screen saver
- Blogger - if you have your own account with Blogger, you can select a group of pictures and upload them straight to your blog
- Web Album - you can create a free web album account and upload any of your pictures to that album as public or private album
- Poster and Collage - you an easily create a poster or collage of any pictures that you have selected
There are a lot of other things that Picasa will do. Try them out and let me know what you think!!
